I loved the books, but found the movie was more than a little too "Lord of the Rings" for me, with Alice the "chosen/destined one" and all that. What happened to the randomness? I made the JDIFF screening through pure chance, and Timothy Spall and Michael Sheen were just amazing afterwards. Be curious to see what you make of Alice.
