movie news: New trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction

Giant robots you say? Yes please! Ok, so I know not everyone was enamored with the last film but I feel like they’ve taken that on board for Transformers: Age of Extinction no? I mean they got rid of Shia LeBeouf, that’s a big deal… right?

Truth is, I didn’t even have a problem with Shia LeBeouf but I’m happy to welcome a change as well as long as the big robots are still there. I think of it as a guilty pleasure. Sure, they’re not the most… how do we put it… challenging films? But I still like seeing things explode. Things don’t explode as often as they used to. That’s what you need Michael Bay for.

Mark Wahlberg? I like him… in general… but his addition makes it clear they’re going in a different direction, I find him a little bit serious but we’ll see how that goes.

I’m also looking forward to seeing Ireland’s own Jack Reynor getting involved. Obviously he was great in What Richard Did and he acquitted himself ably in Delivery Man (review) We only catch glimpses of him in this trailer but they did release a poster featuring him so it’s clear he has an important part to play.

Anyway, you can check out the trailer below. I’m interested in where they’re going with it and I’d say it’s pretty epic in the cinema.

Transformers: Age of Extinction is in Irish and UK cinemas from 10th July 2014
