movie news: First trailer for Iron Man 3 released1 Comment
We’ve had a few glimpses of the film already through the stills that have been released and we have an official synopsis but finally we’re getting a good look at the action. If you’re wondering what the synopsis is… here you go. It’s not particularly spoilerish so I’m giving it my stamp of approval. It’s ok folks, safe to read.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
All the usual suspects are back for Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr. (of course), , Jon Favreau and Don Cheadle plus a new villain… who I’m sure you’ll meet in the trailer but I’m not going to spoil on you now.
Speaking of new, Guy Pearce is also a new addition to the Avengers universe. As is director Shane Black. He previously directed Robert Downey Jr. in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, a film that more people should probably try and see.
I know there’s a lot of hype about Iron Man 3 but I have to be honest, I’m not a massive fan of the films. I like the character but I’ve always found the films a little too… messy. But Iron Man 3 is riding high on the wave of The Avengers (review) and I have to admit, I’m being swept up. They earned a lot of good will from me, and I’m sure many others, so I hope Iron Man 3 doesn’t disappoint.
Here’s the trailer, are you looking forward to it?
For some reason it’s in UK cinemas on 26th April 2013, so I wouldn’t be surprised if either the UK or Irish date changes closer to the time…
* = For the record, I’m still not convinced about trailers for trailers. I just don’t get it… but hey.
