movie news: Trailer for new Irish film, Jimmy’s Hall

Ken Loach, acclaimed director of The Wind That Shakes The Barley, returns to Ireland with his new film and possible last film, Jimmy’s Hall.

Based on the life of Jimmy Gralton, noted political activist, Jimmy Hall takes us back to the Ireland of the ’20s and ’30s. In 1921 when Jimmy opened his dance hall, he wanted to create a place where the young people of Ireland could learn, argue, debate and dance. He wanted to celebrate Ireland’s young free thinkers. He was a revolutionary.

Shot in Leitrim and Sligo and starring Barry Ward, Andrew Scott, Brían F. O’Byrne, Francis Magee and Simone Kirby, this promises to be another thought provoking missive from Loach.

Jimmy’s Hall is in Irish cinemas from 30th May 2014
