Scott Pilgrim Michael Cera posterI have to admit, this isn’t a film I’ve been paying a lot of attention to.

Which is ridiculous because I really should be paying attention to it.

It’s by Edgar Wright, director and co-writer of one of the best comedy-horror films in a very long time. Love that film. Also it stars Michael Cera, an actor who will always have a place in my heart because of Arrested Development, best TV comedy in years.

So, since it’s coming out in like 2 weeks (25th August) I thought I’d better get it together and actually find out about it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is actually based on a recent graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Graphic novels are one of those things that I kind of feel like I should be into, but I’m not. I’ve read a few but I’ve always been more up for the movie adaptations…

Anyway, the titular Scott Pilgrim is a slacker musician who falls in love with the girl of his dreams. However, in true hero fashion, to get the girl he must defeat her 7 evil exes who are coming to kill him. Video game stylee.

Sounds simple enough. Actually it sounds a bit strange but I trust in Edgar Wright. Shaun of the Dead was pure genius. He’d better not let me down.

There’s some pretty cool marketing stuff going on with this as well. Check out this interactive trailerā€¦ go on, give it a poke!

I’ll leave you with that for now but undoubtedly I’ll have more to say when it comes to the week of releaseā€¦
