clips and trailers: Love, Rosie (2014)

I have to say, romantic comedies aren’t generally my thing – as you’ve probably gathered from the general content of the site – however Love, Rosie is a little bit different as it’s got that whole Irish thing going on. Also, I did really enjoy What If recently so who knows… maybe there’s a closet romantic in there somewhere.

Love, Rosie is based on the best-selling novel Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern (you don’t get much more Irish than that right?) and significant parts of it were filmed in Dublin and Wicklow last year.

Starring Lily Collins and Sam Clafin, who you may know from Mirror Mirror and The Hunger Games respectively, it tells the story of childhood friends who may possibly become more than friends… or not. The trailer does a great job of selling it to be honest. I do want to see it now, if only partly because I always like a good cry at the ol’ flicks.

There’s always the hope that Love, Rosie could be one of those different, more quirky and edgy romantic comedies, like the aforementioned Daniel Radcliffe one, and others like One Day and Ruby Sparks. Ok, well maybe edgy isn’t the word and I suspect it won’t be as quirky as Ruby Sparks, unless they’re hiding something really big in that trailer.

As usual, it does look like the trailer gives a lot away but if you weren’t planning on seeing it at all, it might just convince you!

Love, Rosie is in UK and Irish cinemas from 22 October 2014.
